September on Atlanta’s east side is one of my favorite times of the year. The weather is starting to cooperate, the neighborhood calendars are full, and I already know I’ll be spending most of the month outside.
I’ll be volunteering at the Brownwood Bike Rally on September 12, walking Kirkwood with a glass in hand during the Wine Stroll, and back in EAV for the Strut on September 26. Add House in the Park over in Grant Park, and there’s something worth leaving the house for nearly every weekend. And if you see me out and about, please come say hi!
Whether you want live music, local food, a reason to get outside or just a good neighborhood wander, September is stacked. Let’s get into it.

East Atlanta Village Isn’t Just for Night Owls Anymore
EAV has always come alive after dark. But its next chapter may be less about what happens after dinner and more about becoming a place to spend the whole day. Sagra Wine Bar just soft-opened on Gresham Avenue, and roughly $10 million is going into renovating the Flat Shoals Avenue buildings that will soon house a new wine bar, an expanded yoga studio, a ceramics studio, and a youth-led skate shop built through East Atlanta Kids Club.

Now Open: Sagra Wine Bar
One of EAV’s most anticipated new spots has started welcoming guests. Sagra, an Italian-inspired neighborhood wine bar from Bacchanalia sommelier Eric Di Nardo, is soft-opening now at 535 Gresham Avenue SE — wine, sourdough pizza, focaccia, snacks, and a full bar, with about 50 seats between the bar, dining room, and back patio. Hours may still shift as the team settles in, so check their Instagram before you go.

EAV Community Tennis — September 27
We’re back on the courts at Brownwood Park, Sundays from 3:00–4:30 PM. All levels welcome — bring your racquet and come say hi.
And mark your calendar for the week before, too: the EAV Tennis League Launch Party is Sunday, September 13, 3:00–5:00 PM, right there at Brownwood. Food, music, casual court time, and a first look at the new league before Fall matches begin.
The EAV Tennis League itself kicks off Monday, September 14. Keep an eye out next week for partners and the match schedule.
