Downtown Decatur is one of my favorite places to meet up with friends, grab a meal or spend an afternoon walking around the square. Local restaurants, independent shops, coffee spots, festivals and community events give it plenty of personality, while MARTA makes it easy to stay connected to Atlanta without driving everywhere. Homes located within the City of Decatur are served by City Schools of Decatur, which is an important distinction when comparing properties with a Decatur mailing address. Not every home labeled “Decatur” is actually inside the city limits, so buyers should verify the municipality, taxes and school assignment for each address. Beyond downtown, Decatur includes tree-lined residential streets, neighborhood parks and easy connections to Oakhurst, East Lake and Atlanta’s eastside.
